Twirling my pen..

has always been my favorite activity. Maybe I should list that up on Orkut? :D

But seriously, after a hearty chat with a friend yesterday, it seemed like I ain't
"passionate" about anything in this world. Isn't that depressing?

So I sat down yesterday and I scrolled a few words across my writing pad.

My roommate walks in and reports:
"The water's all over the bathroom floor, the flush is clogged. Nothing works in this apartment"

I stared at her like she just told me she discovered a treasure chest.

"That's it! That is why you have never been passionate about stuff!!", screamed my mind voice.

No, it didn't mean that the flush had anything to do with my passions. It just means
I have been complaining a way lot for a long time now..When you really sit down to "think" you really can figure out.

Usually I would bitch and curse the lease guys..Waste a good 15 mins on that, then get lazy and then pull myself somehow to go knocking on the lease office to complain. Instead I just stormed in and unclogged the whole thing..

Ok, so far gross. But the point is, I have been cribbing that I got no time to do all that I wana do.

It's a shame. So I just went ahead and listed down a few (oh well, I guess I will rephrase. These are the things that interest me:))

Writing (I used to write to a lot of children's magazines before..sighh)
Community service
Singing
Cooking
Mixing music tracks(?? what?? lol.)
Twirling my pen (ok, kidding)
Travelling on foot
Dancing like crazy (I think this must go to the top of the list)
Sitting on the front porch, sipping hot tea and chatting up with dad:) (This, unfortunately, cannot be a lucrative profession)
Debating about politics and movies (I personally think I should have pursued journalism)

Oddly though not one among the above even remotely coincides
with my profession nor did I do any of them in the last few years.

Life needs a U-turn right now..

PS: This is yet another cheesy "me-me" blog..I can't wait to start a journal starting next year and fill it up! Then I will stop cranking up my blogs with cheesy stuff.

The writer of this blog dismisses it as yet another "me-me" blog. True, indeed it is. It is clear that it has derived some inspiration from the "Waiter Rant"(the ultimate success story of the "me-me" blog variety). But that is just the backdrop. The author has evolved a uniquely perceptive way of expressing the joys, pursuits, frustrations and loneliness of a desi diva (sorry mamashaal :-D) living in the US. There is a certain poignant reference to missing home ("chatting with dad") balanced by the dream to attain what was set out for, culminating in a reflection about one's passion in life. Every desi can quickly empathize with this thread of thoughts, which makes it all the more entertaining a read. Thrown in are some cute observations about the different aspects of the "american society" with a good dose of humor. My only crib is that the reader need not be forced to listen to the Juno music all the time. Rather the background music should be optional. I would rather listen to good old Nusrat while reading other people's blogs :-)))

PS: So here goes your first critical review. ;-) Keep writing.

Double PS: Hope you would have mastered the Juno song on your new guitar by now. Or are you still learning the chords?

OMG! It is so *awesomely* nice of you to leave me a "complete" comment :) Thanks!! Ok, confession here: I tried to disable the javascript that plays the music, I just am not able to. The so-called software engg. cannot do it. LOL. But that was too long back, and I might have improved from then..lol. So I most probably will disable it in like the next 30 secs:)

And ya, just started to learn the chords..do you play?

Oh wow! So you took my comment seriously and disabled the music. LOL. Don't get me wrong here - I do like the Juno movie and the music (although I wouldn't admit that much in front of any guy :-D) So the software engg. has evolved! Ya I play occasionally. Btw, I have started blogging recently and so feel free to leave a comment or two there. Ok, that was a shameless, cheesy solicitation, but you know Life's like that ;-) Happy New Year!

Haha, being cheesy is called "marketing yourself" in the real world:) I confess the music was bugging..will make it optional though.

Lol :-) It was awesomely nice of you to leave comments. Even more awesome is the fact that you love the Alchemist! So looks like you know so much about the "real world".. are you like 60 years old? Gramma! When is your next post out btw.

Hahaha....I am guilty of that. I first defected to Wordpress coz I thought trackbacks are too cool. Then I found that I dont have much need for them. Well you know how trial and error goes. But then, I got some comments on both blogs...so decided to run both of them! I would certainly have to take a timeout at some point..think...and go with one site. And btw...you have just given me the fodder for my New Year's post..(I see all bloggers very enthued on the Eve. I guess posting on Dec 31 is a ritual on the blogosphere)
